8 June 2014 - Dual Group 1 winner Brunelleschi dominated the 2014 Bendigo Bank Bendigo Trotters Cup at Lord's Raceway Saturday night exploding away over the final 400 metres to win by more than 6 metres. Back in top form for trainer/driver Amy Tubbs and backing up from last week's slashing third to Keystone Del in last week's John Slack Memorial Cup at Ballarat, Brunelleschi raced outside the race leader for most of the 2650 metre trip before Tubbs hit the "go button" approaching the final bend. Brunelleschi raced away with a Cup winning lead while local hope Stephen John (Graeme Maher) was held up in traffic after racing three back on the marker pegs most of the way. Stephen John used the sprint lane to charge home into second place with last weeks NSW Marathon winner Tsonga (David Moran) putting in his usual tradesman-like performance to finish third. Amy Tubb's sister Jess was on hand to collect the winners silver Cup on behalf of her mother Kate who races Brunelleschi, now the winner of 13 of his 26 starts. Brunelleschi is by Tennotrump from Box Brownie and breeder Michael Pangrazio of Staffordshire Park was on track and was called upon by the Club to rug the Cup winner. Other feature race winners last night were Tiavons Dream (3yo Trot Classic), Frankie Valley (Bendigo Guineas), Tandias Bromac (4yo Vicbred SS) and Sketchman (2yo Vicbred SS) - (David Aldred)
