31 December 2012 - Alabar Stud's US-bred stallion Major In Art posted his first win as a sire with Major Cruiser winning at South Australia's Globe Derby Park today.
The Shepparton-based, Major In Art, a former USTA 2yo of the year, is Art Major's fastest 2yo son at stud. His current 2yo's are from his debut crop as a stallion. Major Cruiser is only the second of the Major In Art's to race with his only other starter a placegetter in NSW.Trained by Ray Holberton, Major Cruiser was restrained at the start by driver Ken Rogers before ambling up to race outside the leader for the final circuit. The gelding from the Life Sign mare Sancerre packed too much punch for race favourite Miss Sophia (David Harding) to win by a neck, rating 2:04. over the 1800 metres. Major In Art was the sponsor of Bendigo's 2012 Anniversary Pacing Cup. -David Aldred
