11 June 2012 - The Pratt family celebrated the memory of popular trainer Les Pratt at Lord's Raceway on Saturday night with the inaugural running of the $10,000 Les Pratt Memorial 3yo Fillies Classic.
The race sponsored by a long time client of Les Pratt, Peter Hayes on behalf of the Pratt family was won by the David Aiken trained Real Bonus. Pratt passed away last winter after sustaining injuries in a training accident in Bendigo. The trainer loved harness racing and breeding and it is fitting that a quality fillies race now carries his name. Real Bonus, bred in Bendigo by the late Ron Pocock was also a fitting winner. The tough filly sat parked and scored an emphatic 5 metre win in the Classic with a 1:58.8 mile rate and covering the final half mile in 58.7 seconds. Driven by Nathan Jack, Real Bouns ($3.30 fav) beat Dobop (Jodi Quinlan) and Thisiswhoiam (Daryl Douglas). - David Aldred
