Track Rules


Main Track

Closed

  1. Track Maintenance Monday – Friday between 1pm and 5pm. No horses on track until maintenance completed.
  2. 1pm the DAY BEFORE any Race Meeting.
  3. 11am on Weekday trials Day.
  4. 3pm Saturday before Sunday morning Trials.

Rules

  1. Track to be used for FAST WORK ONLY.
  2. All work outside markers.
  3. Any marker caps turned over to be reinstated.
  4. Caps are usually left off track, day after race meetings.

Prohibited

  1. Galloping, jogging, warming up, walking horses between heats.
  2. Any carts with tyres other than standard sulky tyres ie. “heavy tyred” carts are prohibited.


Second Track

Closed

  1. 1pm Night race meetings.
  2. 1pm Twilight race meetings.
  3. 9:30am Day race meetings.
  4. 8am Sunday Trial days.

Rules

  1. Slow jogging to outside of Track.
  2. Horse working faster have right of way on INSIDE.
  3. Galloping is only permitted on this track.
  4. All horses must gallop on OUTSIDE of the Track – drivers must advise the trainers on track of their intention to gallop their horse.
  5. All fast work (hopplers) MUST BE ON INSIDE OF TRACK.
  6. Horses galloping or fast work take preference over horses jogging.

Prohibited

  1. Jogging in Groups.
  2. Horses tied to side of carts/sulkies.
  3. Leading of horses.

Third Track

Closed

  1. 1pm Night Race meetings.
  2. 1pm Twilight Race meetings.
  3. 9.30am Day Race meetings.
  4. 8am Sunday Trial days.
  5. Trainers leading horse (1 only) MUST USE this track.
  6. Only one (1) horse to be led.

Prohibited

  1. Galloping or fast work prohibited on this track.

"Harold Park" - Main Car Park Track

Closed

  1. Midday on days of Greyhound Race Meetings.
  2. Race Days – 2 hours before first race until 1 hour after last race.
  3. Trials Days/Nights one hour before commencement of trials until one hour after last trial completed.

Rules

  1. Horses are permitted to travel both clockwise and anti clockwise direction.
  2. Maximum of 8 horses on track at any time.
  3. Slow jogging only on this track.

Prohibited

  1. Galloping or fast work prohibited.
  2. No leading of horses on this track under any circumstances.
  3. Jogging in groups is prohibited.

Race Day Stalls

Closed

  1. 10am Night Race meetings.
  2. 10am Day Race meetings.
  3. 10am Weekday (Night) Trials.
  4. Until after Trials, on Sunday Trial days.

Rules

  1. Stalls to be used are stalls numbered 1-28.
  2. Trainers must clean stalls of all manure and rubbish as they leave.

Prohibited

  1. Use of any stalls other than numbered 1-28.

Open Air Stalls

Closed

  1. 1pm Night Race meeting.
  2. 1pm Twilight Race meeting.
  3. 1pm Weekday (Night) trials.
  4. 10am Day Race meetings.
  5. Until, after Trials on Sunday Trial Days.

Rules

  1. Access to “Harold Park” and jog tracks on race days to be via gate adjacent to stalls.
  2. Trainers must vacate and clean stalls in accordance with these rules.

Access to Complex

Hours

  1. THE TRACKS/COMPLEX MAY ONLY BE USED DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. THE MAIN TRACK MAY BE USED DURING THOSE TIMES WHEN THE SUPPLEMENTARY LIGHTING ON GRANDSTAND IS IN OPERATION.

Access

  1. NO HORSES are permitted to access by using the “Dogs Road” immediately to the left near the “Rothacker” Sign on main entrance road.
  2. Trainers must use the designated crossing points to access jog tracks and race tracks. Walking across tracks at random is prohibited. Access points must be used.

Closed

  1. All access gates to the Race Track will be closed/locked in the evening before race meetings and reopened at 6am on race day.

General Rules

General

  1. All persons using the complex must comply with the following requirements of Harness Racing Victoria:

  2. Must hold an appropriate HRV Licence.
  3. Wearing of correctly fastened skullcaps is compulsory.
  4. Safety vests must be worn at all times in accordance with HRV rules.
  5. Use of wooden sulkies is prohibited in accordance with HRV Rules.
  6. Bendigo Harness Racing Club reserves the right to close any/all tracks at any time.
  7. No litter to be left deposited in any area ie. stalls, float park, tracks, etc.
  8. Horses floated to track must be unloaded in float park area and these rules prohibit horses being tied to floats or fences.
  9. If any track gate is closed, gates MUST NOT, under any circumstances, be opened and the facility accessed by horses.



Facility Fees and Usage

General

  1. All users of the facility must pay the Annual fee set by the Bendigo Harness Racing Club.
  2. The Club reserves the right to refuse use of the facilities to any person due to non compliance with Track Rules or non payment of fees (non payment or non compliance will be reported to Harness Racing Victoria Stewards).
